Introduction to Teaching and Playing Disc Golf: How to Grip, Putt, and Drive, 1st Edition

As part of our mission to "Make the game better for everyone", we support our charity partner UPlay Disc Golf by offering UPlay's curriculum and donating all proceeds to UPlay.

Introduction to Teaching and Playing Disc Golf, 1st Edition, is specifically geared toward coaches and teachers who are introducing the sport to new participants, hosting events for new players, or have limited time to teach. This book is also recommended for individuals who want to learn the basics of playing disc golf.

Introduction to Teaching and Playing Disc Golf breaks down individual skills step-by-step. The book focuses on how to properly grip, putt, and drive. Highlighted features and benefits are:

  • How to teach beginners of all ages
  • Review and improve the most basic disc golf skills
  • How to warm up the body to play disc golf
  • Have fun playing disc golf

Uplay, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, founded in 2017 by disc golf professional and gifted teacher, Zoē AnDyke. This book is the culmination of years of teaching and advocating for community participation in a fun and easy-to-learn group activity.

Each chapter introduces a disc golf skill and contains the following:

1. A definition of the skill and its importance in the game of disc golf
2. A four-step (or fewer as needed) description of the skill
3. Photos showing the skill in action
4. Safety advice and tips for running drills
5. Drills that teach and encourage repetition and variation of the skill

A note for teachers and coaches:
Every effort has been made to introduce topics and terms in a manner that builds upon earlier skills and concepts. This allows participants to learn at their own pace and have confidence and appropriate knowledge when introduced to new concepts. Referring to prior chapters is encouraged. The training calendar is a recommended guide; its key being flexibility. This allows you, the teacher/coach, to tailor this training program to your participants and their abilities.
